You can also become a member of the Queer Coding Camp association. You'll receive an invitation to our members' meeting, where you can give inputs on association activities and future projects.

The tech industry can feel exclusionary to people who are not cis, male, white and heterosexual. This was not always the case and needs to change again.

Queer Coding Camp aims to counteract this situation through education and support of young queer people and by providing opportunities for networking of LGBTQ+ people in the tech industry. We queer the tech world, to make it more inclusive, fair and safe for everyone.

Who are we?

With your donation you enable young queer people to participate in the Queer Coding Camp.

The Queer Coding Camp association was recognized as a non-profit association by the canton of Zurich in 2024 and is therefore tax-exempt. Contact us for donation certificates (for donations of CHF 100 or more per year).

Queer Coding Camp, 5. - 10. October 2025, Sumiswald, Bern

Queer Coding Camp is a one-week camp where you can gain your first experience with programming. Queer programmers share their skills and help you with your own projects.

You'll learn basic knowledge in web or game development. In addition, there are workshops and inputs on topics such as design and artificial intelligence.

In the evenings there are games, pen and paper or get togethers at the campfire.

The Schlafschloss Sumiswald used to be a nursing home, which is why it's potentially accesible for people using wheelchairs. We are currently in the process of getting an official assessment done, so we can potentially open registration for people using wheelchairs next year (2026).

Thanks to the support of foundations and private donations, participation is free of charge. You have to pay for your own travel. In the run-up to the camp we organize travel groups from Zurich and Bern. If that is a hurdle for you, you can note this when registering and we will find a solution.

Core courses (Web and Game) have so far been held in German while workshops and guest lectures sometimes were conducted in English. All instructors are fluent in German and English. Participants who speak either language should be able to follow the course.

You don't need any programming knowledge or affinity for IT. If you have your own laptop, please bring it with you. If not, we will provide one for you.

We open the registration for the camp in spring. You can subscribe to our newsletter, so you'll be notified as soon as registration opens.

The camp is open to all queer and questioning people aged 16 to 23. FINTA (Women, Inter, Non-Binary, Trans and Agender People) and PoC (Persons of Color) are strongly underrepresented in the tech industry and thus have priority in the registration process.

The camp takes place at the <a>Schlafschloss Sumiswald</a>, in Emmental (Canton of Bern). As a participant, you stay in two- or three-bed rooms.
