You can also become a member of the Queer Coding Camp association. Then you will receive an invitation to our members' meeting, where you can influence future projects.

The tech industry is exclusive to people who are not cis, male, white and heterosexual. This was not always the case and must change!

The Queer Coding Camp wants to counteract this situation through education and support of young queer people and the networking of LGBTQ+ people in the tech industry. We queerness the tech world, so that it is in the future an inclusive, fair and safe place for queer people.

Who are we?

With your donation you enable young queer people to participate in the Queer Coding Camp.

The Queer Coding Camp association was recognized as a non-profit association by the canton of Zurich in 2024 and is therefore tax-exempt. Contact us for donation certificates (for donations of CHF 100 or more per year).

Queer Coding Camp, 5. - 10. October 2025, Sumiswald, Bern

Queer Coding Camp is a one-week camp where you can gain your first experience with programming. Queer programmers share their skills and help you with your own projects.

You'll learn basic knowledge in web or game programming. In addition, there are workshops and inputs on topics such as design and artificial intelligence.

In the evenings there are games, pen and paper or get togethers at the campfire.

The Schlafschloss Sumiswald is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. We have not yet found a barrier-free location that is suitable for the implementation. Do you know one? Write to us!

Thanks to the support of foundations and private donations, participation is free of charge. You have to pay for your own travel. In the run-up to the camp we organize travel groups from Zurich and Bern. If this is not possible for you, you can note this when registering and we will find a solution.

Core courses (Web and Game) have so far been held in German while workshops and guest lectures sometimes were conducted in English. All instructors are fluent in German and English. Participants who speak either language should be able to follow the course.

You don't need any programming knowledge or affinity for IT. If you have your own laptop, please bring it with you. If not, we will provide one for you.

We open the registration for the camp in the spring. You can already register for our email newsletter, then we will contact you as soon as the registration opens.

The camp is open to all queer people aged 16 to 23. FINTA (Women, Inter, Non-Binary, Trans and Agender People) and PoC (Persons of Color) are strongly underrepresented in the tech industry and thus have priority in the registration process.
